Golf Courses are ideal places to use Cut'n'Paste

I thought I would take the time to drop you a quick line about Cut n Paste.

The greenstaff  here at Peninsula Golf Club have sucessfully using Cut n Paste to remove unwanted Paspalum grass and reeds throughout the golf course. We have been using Cut n Paste to remove Paspalum from our couch grass fairways. We carefully wipe the product onto Paspalum leaves and target kill off without seriously affecting the grass  underneath. As the Paspalum dies off the couch grass underneth can begin to grow susessfully with little or no damage.

Cut n Paste was convenient, saved time for maintenance staff because they could just act as and when there was a weed that needed to be dealt to.  That it was highly targeted on those nuisance course weeds.  Cut n Paste saved money because we did not have to invest time and resources into expensive chemicals which may require a follow up application. Staff could treat weeds as and when they identified them.

We now sucesfully use  CutnPaste because I wanted a safe low toxicity product and with the applicator brush was easy to use.  CutnPaste fits this criteria of being low cost and easy to use and with the addition of blue dye is now visible for the green staff to know where they have been.  We are mainly targeting paspalum and results are noticed within 7 day period of time with the plants wilting and dieing.

As an added extra Cut n Paste  will also deal with all the other nuisance weeds around the course, the gorse, wooly nightshade, paspalum and reeds have all been controlled sucessfully.

Organic Coconut Fatty Acids weedkiller compared with Cut'n'Paste

Most organic weedkillers are only able to burn off the foliage of pest plants.  Coconut fatty acids for instance are used in organic spays and are able to rapidly dessicate leaves but have little of no systemic effect on the root system of the plant which will regrow.  The toxicity is low for birds and mammals.

"However, Potassium salts of fatty acids are relatively selective in toxicity based on the insect species and stage of development. Soft bodied insects such as aphids, whiteflies, and mealy bugs are more susceptible to desiccation. The least affected are flyingadult insects with more durable  exteriors, such as ladybird beetles. However, insects in the immature, flightless stage ofdevelopment are more vulnerable to this active ingredient."

Coconut fatty acids are also quite high to aquatic invertebrates

"Potassium salts of fatty acids are highly toxic to aquatic invertebrates. The LC50 was determined to be 0.57 ppm in a 48-hour acute toxicity study with Daphnia magna. The EPA requires all product labels containing this active ingredient to state that the product is not to be applied directly to water and the user is not to contaminate water bodies by cleaning equipment"

The MSDS of commonly used Coconut fatty acid for roadside spraying  states toxicity ratings of 6.3A, 8.3A, 9.1C.  In comparison the glyphosate used in Cut'n'Paste with a 9.1D (lower toxicity than 9.1C) toxicity rating is only slightly toxic to aquatic organisms and being in a gel form is unlikely to have any effect on insect larvae, soil or water organisms.

One wonders about the wisdom of using organic weedkillers for roadside spraying under the impression that they are less toxic and therefore present less risk to the environment.

Another happy customer using it on the little weeds

I have used the one I bought on prickles and other weeds in my lawns and garden where spraying would affect other plants and grass.   I find it works almost immediately and certainly gets rid of the weeds quickly and is also very easy to use as you can use it on a windy day unlike spray.

Cut'n'Paste works for all your weed needs. Testimonial

Hi Andy

I picked up your pamphlet from a friend's table a year ago while wondering what I was going to do about the infestation of weeds on my two and a half hectare property.  I am very happy to say that results were immediate and within one year all weeds including moth plant, woolly nightshade, pampas grass, tobacco plant, jasmine- you name it, have completely disappeared using Cut'n'Paste Gel. The product is easy to use and safe to surrounding plants.

Your professional "Land Man" advice along the way regarding new plantings and attraction of bird and insect lifehas been invaluable and ongoing. So, I am very glad to have picked up that particular pamphlet.

Regards

Mike

New Testimonial From DoC Ranger

Testimonial - Steve Benham (DOC Ranger - Auckland Area Office - Biodiversity (Flora)

I have been using Cut'N'Paste on a diverse range of environmental weeds since March 2011

Key species include woolly nightshade (Solanum mauritianum), moth plant (Araujia hortorum), evergreen buckthorn (Rhamnus alaternus)

I have found that cutting as close to soil level as possible and pasting with Cut'N'Paste gel has given excellent results with no lateral movement of herbicide in the ground.

The company Landman Limited has given excellent customer satisfaction since lodging my initial order in 2011

Roundup Gel

Monsanto have brought out a Roundup Gel.  Only trouble is it's only 0.7% Glyphosate and therefore so weak it only work on your dandelions and weeds in the cracks of your pavers. They are selling it for $5 less than 3 times the quantity of Cut'n'Paste gel which contains 12% glyphosate, don't be fooled by imitations.  Cut'n'Paste uses the lowest toxicity glyphosate available.  Cut'n'Paste deals to all your weed needs from trees to kikuyu.  You need so little

Cut'n'Paste dealing to your weeds, what every Gardener needs

You just brush it on, then your weeds are gone

One happy customer

We have used Cut'n'Paste on our property for more than a year now and are genuinely impressed with the results.

"Our Ginger is gone!  Within a couple of months of treatment the plants had withered and died off and they haven't come back.  Agapanthus died in just the same way.  It shriveled up and died. This is so much easier than having to dig it out and find somewhere to dump the root mass.

Most astonishing to us is the result of some large and difficult to control Lantana plants.  Some we cut and painted the stumps and with only one minor touch up of some shoots that were missed the smaller plants were dead.  One large Lantana tree was so bound up and interlocked with other trees that we didn't want to cut it down. We simply scratched the bark at the base of the tree with a wire brush, and then applied Cut'n'Paste.  Within a couple of months the tree was dead and we left it to fall apart in time. This saves heaps of time, energy and hassle.

We are very impressed with Cut'n'Paste. Another plus is that there's not the collateral damage you get from spraying. We find it very easy and safe to use.  We would recommend it to anybody with a garden as an essential tool for making weed control simpler and easier.

Cut'n'Paste testimonial from the Plant Doctor

From Andrew Maloy, the Plant Doctor on Weekend Gardener

"I know you're about to say that it's too hard to spray amongst other plants without killing them.  However there is a new glyphosate formulation called Cut'n'Paste , a ready to use gel.  With weeds like couch grass you simple apply the gel to the weed foliage, according to the label instructions."

More Bamboo Bashing

This bamboo patch has been treated with double strength Cut'n'Paste.  A very quick growing spreading bamboo.  After two months of treatment regrowth is now minimal and looking sick and yellowed, requiring a few touch ups to finish the job.  The remaining bamboo is on the neighbour's property unfortunately but it screens a walway.  There will be reinvasion along the boundary from the remaining stand but easily controlled.

Adele Smaill of Whitianga won 20L of Cut'n'Paste with pump at the Waitakere Home and Garden Show

Adele_smaill
Adele Smaill of Whitianga won this 20L of Cut'n'Paste at the Waitakere Home and Garden Show. She is using with some of the work she is undertaking on revegetation projects.
She said....
"The project I work on is plant and animal pest control in the Cooks Beach to Ferry Landing area - as a contractor to "Thames Coromandel District Council". With limited budgets, your donation means there will be more money available for my labour and purchasing native plants to "heal" weed damaged sites. Projects of special focus are the Ferry Landing Cemetry and Shakespeare Cliff Reserve. Weeds that I'm looking forward to "cutting 'n pasting" include privet, woolly nightshade, tradescantia, cotoneaster, wattles, phoenix palm, pampas, agapanthus, gorse, blackberry, spanish heath, climbing asparagus fern, dumped succulents and cactii. The list goes on ...

Cheers

The History of Cut'n'Paste

weeding-benblain.jpgThe natives were restless; Andy Spence, was seriously considering resorting to ‘tractor’ methods to control an epidemic weed infestation on ‘WeedHeke’. That was until he discovered a way to ‘cut’ his weed problem down to size. He explains:

“Years ago Waiheke was known at the ARC (Auckland Regional Council) as ‘WeedHeke’, with good reason – it was considered to be the weediest place on the planet, second only to Hawaii!

A park ranger on Waiheke Island in Auckland for 16 years and a biosecurity officer for five, when I started working at Whakanewha Regional Park I saw that it would be an enormous job to get the weeds there under control.

Many people on the island wanted me to adopt a chemical-free approach, so I invited them to help, and show me how this would be possible.  A few hardy folk turned out and, after a couple of days of hard work, we all realised that we were not going to win our war on weeds that way.

Some areas were beyond salvation; the weeds so outnumbered the natives that the best approach was to hire a mulching tractor, mulch it all to the ground and keep going until the tractor couldn’t fit between the natives to reach the next Chinese privet or cotoneaster or gorse bush without chopping down a native.  At this point, the hard work of removing the weeds by hand began.

In the mulched areas we heavily sowed rye grass seed and allowed it to grow thickly through the autumn and winter. Then, in spring, we sprayed the huge growth of weeds with Triclopyr, a broadleaf herbicide which left the grass untouched.  The grass then thrived and smothered most further weed growth. The following spring, replanting could begin. It was then quite easy to accomplish and all that was subsequently required was annual hand weeding.

The hand removal of weeds was gruelling and by far the hardest of tasks.  Each weed had to be cut and pasted with a herbicide to prevent re-growth then a native planted in its place.

weeding-cutnpaste.jpgTo help solve this problem I really needed a gel herbicide which used a low toxicity form of Glyphosate to make it safer and easier for volunteers. Unable to find such a product on the market, I developed my own. The result was Cut‘n’Paste, a broad spectrum brush on Herbicide.

By killing grass weeds, such as pampass and kikuyu, as well as the mass of climbing and smothering weeds and tree species, including privets, rhamnus and woolly nightshade, Cut‘n’Paste has proved to be a most effective solution.

Although the Whakanewha Regional Park is now looking a treat, there are still many years of weed control ahead; but what a difference we have made!”

Cut‘n’Paste is also ideal for the smallest of backyards; more information about this invaluable product is available at: cutnpaste.co.nz.

Agapanthus - Not a problem

The pictures below show graphically the time taken for Agapanthus to show severe yellowing after treatment.  The plants have been kept in an airy light location well watered.  In these conditions they meet their maker most quickly.  The first photo shows the plants in order of treatment with the control on the right.  The plant to the leftmost is the first treated 20 days ago, then 16 then 10 days.

The set of four photos shows the individual plants.  I will put up photos in a months time of the progressive die back.

Press Acknowledgement for Cut'n'Paste

Hi Andy

My name is Rebecca I am from Awareness Today Magazine based here in Christchurch, I came across your recent press release about Cut ‘N’ Paste and visited your website today and read all about this amazing effective treatment to every day weed problems, what a wonderful innovative concept! It’s refreshing to know this new gel product can help all garden enthusiasts as well as going to commercial users for larger projects. Cut ‘N’ Paste will make a difference in many peoples lives, not only does it treat the annoying weed problem it does not get into the soil or transfer to other foliage in the immediate area proving its bio safe technology! What a fantastic achievement! You must be very proud, well done!

Arborist happy with Cut'n'Paste

I've finished the sample bottle of CUT'N'PASTE you kindly sent me and I'm
pleased with the results to date.

I used it on Eucalyptus stumps after felling and have had no evidence of
copice growth. I have also used it on Populus stumps and Salix stumps.
Niether have resprouted, although there hasn't been enough time yet to see
if the product has translocated throughout the root system to prevent
sucker regrowth with the poplars.

It's ease of use makes CUT'N'PASTE a product that is attractive where
safety is concerned and a cost saver with no waste and no mixing time. I
can carry a bottle in my wedge belt and apply to the stump immediately
after felling.

http://www.landcareresearch.co.nz/publications/newsletters/weeds/

This publication shows the latest news with Biological control of weeds.  NZ leads the world in the care taken with releasing biocontrol agents for weed control and there have been many notable successes.  Some hopeful ones for us are two new agents, one for wandering Jew and one for moth plant.

Herbicides have their uses but should be minimised.  Cut'n'Paste leads the way in low toxicity herbicide weed control with it's gel formulation of Glyphosate.  Try some today.
